Today is THE DAY!

FULL OF MYSELF

a new book by Austin Channing Brown

I am full of every emotion. Before you enter the world of publishing, you don't truly realize how long it takes to go from idea to release date. The journey for Full of Myself has been two years long. And now, with a flourish, she is entering the world.

Last night, The Literati Bookstore in Ann Arbor hosted my first tour stop to a SOLD OUT CROWD (y'all know the fear of showing up to an empty room is REAL). The inimitable Ashley C Ford was kind enough to join me for the celebration. And even my mom joined in the fun!

Now I am headed to Austin (Austin in Austin!) to begin 3 days of city hopping in hopes of connecting with readers who are also on the journey to becoming full of ourselves.

Our regularly scheduled newsletter will begin again soon, right after all the celebrations!

Wait for it...

"I love being a black woman, but America doesn't always make it easy.
Black women are expected to adopt a posture of emptying ourselves as we move through the world.

But we keep living in defiance, reaching for our own self-possession. I believe that self-possession is the justice work we have been made to undervalue.

Rather than emptying ourselves, we are becoming full, full of ourselves, learning to love ourselves in ways we are told not to.

I'm giving myself permission, permission to laugh loudly, to fail at what doesn't serve me, to live a life of connection and solidarity, to love myself when I look mean and impressive, and again, when I am awkward or goofy, to care for myself when I am messy, falling apart, or sad and to pursue my own healing as I become full of myself."
